Notes from the table

These notes mention the actual sitting: a named path, a colliding event, or a session that ran past the scheduled end.

Nadia printed our onboarding as twelve frames. Frame four still fired signup_success because an old fragment was in the Android build. We had been celebrating a number that was partly a bug.

Hafiz, Android lead, Shah Alam commerce app — measurement review

I wanted a shorter session. Four hours on one funnel felt indulgent until we reached the gift-card screen that had no event at all. The mild complaint is that we still left two names unresolved and had to schedule a follow-up.

Siew Ling, product owner, Penang retail app — funnel readout

The catalogue workshop forced us to retire ‘user_action’ after six years. Finance disliked losing a familiar column. We kept a mapping tab so their export still matched.

Rajan, analytics manager, KL learning app — event catalogue workshop

Quarterly hours saved us after Raya campaign screens landed with duplicate view events. Wei Sheng caught it on the Tuesday call before the Friday readout to the board.

Amira, growth, Johor e-wallet companion app — quarterly hours

A longer sitting: paywall path for a KL learning app

The team arrived with three definitions of “trial started.” Marketing used the moment the plan screen opened. Product used the moment the first lesson unlocked. Finance used the first successful pre-authorisation.

We walked the iOS build on a borrowed phone in Ipoh. The consent banner appeared after the plan screen had already sent three events with an advertising identifier attached. That finding went on page one of the pack, ahead of any funnel arithmetic.

The glossary we left them uses plan_viewed, trial_unlocked, and trial_prepaid. The weekly meeting now argues about lesson quality instead of which column to paste into the slides.

A visit that did not go neatly

A Penang fintech asked for a readout on first-open to first transfer. Two of the five attendees joined late; the printed sequence sat untouched for forty minutes. We still finished the path, but the last two screens received only a sketch. We noted the gap in the readout rather than inventing counts. They later booked the measurement review for a full pass.
